UNITED STATES, March 10 — WASHINGTON — A New Jersey resident got quite the surprise when their DoorDash delivery arrived at their door over the weekend, courtesy of two local police officers. The Washington Township Police Department shared that officers stopped a vehicle on Sunday and discovered the driver was "a wanted person with warrants. " While being arrested, the driver revealed to the officers he was in the middle of making a DoorDash delivery up the street, the police department described in a Facebook post.
The department shared Ring video and body camera pictures of Sgt. Matt Barnett and Ofc. Mike Scheer completing the DoorDash delivery.
"I thought something happened. Oh my God, I got so scared," the customer said when she answered the door . "We arrested your driver, but we figured we'd deliver your food," one of the officers can be heard saying on the Ring camera footage.
"And to the resident who answered the door, we are sorry for the surprise and for startling you! We hope lunch was still hot," the department said in its Facebook post. This isn't the first time something like this has happened.
Last year in New Mexico, a Rio Rancho officer finished a DoorDash delivery so a customer wouldn't go without his Chick-fil-A. “Your driver didn’t take care of a traffic ticket, so he’s on his way to jail,” the officer can be heard telling the customer on police cam video. “He’s a good kid, give him five stars.
He just didn’t take care of a simple insurance ticket. ”
