Wisconsin driver gets stuck in fresh concrete after ignoring a ‘road closed’ sign

UNITED STATES, May 25 — A driver in eastern Wisconsin learned that the road closed sign was up for a reason after their vehicle drove into fresh concrete earlier this month. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is reminding drivers that barrier and closure signs are typically in place for good reason after a driver decided to physically remove a road closed barrier on May 12 and drive onto the I-41/894/U. S.

45 and National Avenue interchange in the city of West Allis — just outside Milwaukee. After removing the sign and driving forward, the motorist ended up stuck after their pickup sank into the freshly poured concrete that the barricade had been blocking. Crews place barricades and signs for your safety and theirs, the DOT said.

Please never remove or ignore road closed, or any other types of barriers, or this might happen to you. According to the DOT, the incident did not cause any long-term delays to the roadway project s schedule.
