Naked man shot, killed after emerging from Biloxi River, attacking Woolmarket man, police say

(WLOX) — A man was shot and killed after allegedly emerging from the Biloxi River and attacking a man in Woolmarket Saturday night.

Biloxi Police Department officials said that about 8:00 p. m. the department received calls about a naked man emerging from the Biloxi River and approaching homes on Woolmarket Lake Road.

Officials said one of the homeowners who called was not home but saw the man on a doorbell camera. Officials said the homeowner contacted a next-door neighbor, telling him that a naked man was on the porch. The neighbor approached the house to see if the man needed help, but was attacked, officials said.

They said the neighbor had a gun and shot the man an unknown number of times. The man disarmed the neighbor before fleeing back into the Biloxi River, officials said. They said a search and rescue team was called to find the man, who was found dead around 2 a.

m. Sunday. Officials said they made contact with the neighbor, who was left with facial lacerations and bruises from the attack but was not severely injured.
